Small builders in the Orlando, Florida, market say they can't compete with the big national builders there. Not because they can't build homes: it's because they can't get loans, reports the Orlando Sentinel ("Small builders: We're shut out," by Mary Shanklin). Local builder Braxton Green, who owns Baybrook Homes in Orlando, told the paper that he owns 200 lots — but he can't get financing to build houses there. Instead, he's talking to a national developer who wants to buy the land.
