A New Roof Poisons a Family

To function properly, replacement caps must be installed above the end of the vent at the proper height and then tightened in place with the integral clamp.

When a vent cap is pushed down too far, it can block the vent. This cap needed to be raised.

A common mistake is accidentally turning the whole vent when removing a cap, instead of turning just the cap. This can inadvertently disconnect interlocking sections of vent lower down.

Reconnecting disconnected vent sections is often impossible from the top of the roof.

Snipping the flange around a cap whose diameter is too large makes it impossible to clamp or secure the cap to the vent.

A vent pipe that extends high above the roof surface should be braced to prevent movement.
