Downtown Boulder

Boulder Creek rising under a bridge in downtown Boulder. Deep beneath the flood waters are multiple lanes of bike and walking paths and a tall scenic waterfall.

The water rose so quickly that storm responders were overwhelmed. Here spillways remained closed as the water came close to topping the bridge.

Water moving at 10 mph pushes with a force of 300 pounds per square foot. Water moving like this is a virtual bulldozer--even without its battering rams of floating logs and debris.
