Lowering a Basement Floor - Images 15-19

Removing the existing slab created a great opportunity to install a radiant floor, a nice upgrade in Minnesota's cold climate.

Before installing the slab's poly vapor barrier and 2 inches of rigid foam insulation, we trenched and plumbed the new basement sump.

After the 4-inch concrete slab was poured, we framed 2x4 walls around the perimeter, placing them far enough in from the block walls to clear the steps in the new footings.

From this point, the project became a typical basement remodel.

When we were finished, our clients had a new basement bathroom and laundry area and a spacious new family room.
