Strong Teeth. I've always found that Irwin's Marathon saw blades offer a good combination of value and performance. The company's newest version — with what the maker calls WeldTec welded teeth — purportedly provides even greater durability and a 30 percent stronger tooth bond. The teeth are made from UC2 carbide, which the maker says is 70 percent more durable than the carbide on most framing blades. The blades sell for about $12 each. Irwin, 800/464-7946.
