If they can plug in, they will come — that's the reasoning behind a new city ordinance in Palo Alto, California requiring new houses to be electric vehicle-ready. Palo Alto Online has the story: ("Palo Alto embraces new laws to promote electric vehicles," by Gennady Sheyner.
Among the electric-car enthusiasts celebrating the unanimous vote was Sven Thesen, who had already installed a free curbside charging station in front of his house, reports Palo Alto Online. "His experiment in giving drivers free electric charges has been a success, he told the council Monday, prompting gratitude from drivers and a feeling that he is doing 'wonderful things.' He has even received three bottles of wine as gifts from Tesla drivers (estimated value: $90)."
