RRP Discussion ContinuesIn his answer to my letter (“Interpreting the RRP,” 4/12), Shawn McCadden writes that “there seems to be a lot of confusion surrounding the EPA definition of ‘demolition’” (“Lead Paint Rules Require Context,” 5/12). No kidding! But he stirs the pot again, by first correctly stating that the RRP rules apply to both painted and coated surfaces but then incorrectly assuming that paneling materials would need to be disturbed during demolition, writing that “demolition of those materials would fall under the rule unless it has been established by testing that there is no lead present.” Not so fast!...
