Accoya - a veritable super-treated wood (super rot- and weather-resistant using a process that does not rely on dangerous or environment-withering chemicals) - seems to have taken Europe by storm, but has been super slow to gain traction in the U.S. The biggest obstacle for some time has been limited availability. (Although there may be many layers of complexity underlying the reasons for this limited availability. But Accoya is one step closer now to breaking into the U.S. market. As reported by Professional Deck Builder, Accoya recently received an ICC-ES evaluation report ( ESR-2825), providing "official" evidence that the new treated wood product meets code requirements for resistance to termites and decay.
