    Often the difference between getting a job and losing one to a competitor who offers an inferior service is simply a matter of closing well.

  • Not all salespeople will agree, but I believe that the close is the most important part of selling. Sure, if you don't have a good product, or if you don't make a good presentation, you won't get the job. But aren't there competitors in your market with poor products and sloppy work getting jobs you want?

  • The purpose of your sales meeting should be to help salespeople sell more products. I like to hold sales meetings at 9 a.m. on Mondays. Attendance is mandatory for all sales-people and anyone else involved in sales management ó and the meetings should last no longer than one hour.

  • In my opinion, if a company has four full-time salespeople, it's ready for a full-time sales manager. So, should that sales manager be running leads? No, not unless he's running them with a salesperson.

  • Craftspeople by nature and salespeople by necessity, many remodelers believe that their company's good work will speak for itself, convincing smart prospects to work with them.
