Paul Morse (front, left) encourages his staff and crew to think as a team. When hiring, he looks for team members who will think of clients, stretch to reach their potential, and help others do their best. As part of his twice-a-year evaluations, Morse helps each person identify their goals and then reach them. "It helps me and them see the possibility of advancement in the company," he says.

He reformatted his one-page company business plan into three parts to give the marketing, sales, and production departments individual goals. Each department also has key indicators that let Morse keep his finger on the pulse of the company at all times.

Morse doesn't forget the customer is also part of a successful team and says referrals are the best leads. "I take clients to lunch at least once during the process to make sure we're meeting their expectations," he says.
