John Shea (center) developed his own residential remodeling business, Callier Thompson Shea Construction & Design, after more than 25 years at another Big50 company. He was approached by Gary and Dave Callier (second from left and second from right, respectively) of Callier & Thompson Kitchens & Baths (Big50 2005) and the brothers agreed to be silent partners in Shea’s venture. The pairing has been advantageous for both companies, as Shea has brought diversity and a broader clientele to Callier & Thompson as well as being the go-to guy for their expansion needs.
Along with selections coordinator, Debbie Rose (third from left), Shea stays involved throughout each project from design and construction through the detailed finish work. “We get a full understanding of what clients are looking for,” Shea says. “We make sure they are happy and well-informed throughout the process. We are a guest in their home, and we treat them that way.”
Being involved with the community has always been important to Shea, who for the past 13 years has been known as “Mr. Fix-It” on a local radio show. This familiarity raises clients’ comfort level from the first meeting. Callier Thompson Shea Construction & Design is involved with various community charitable projects and was the builder for Extreme Makeover: Home Edition when it came to St. Louis.
