Most houses in the New Jersey Shore community of Deal are vacation homes. Monmouth Custom Builders provides the owners, many of whom live in New York City, with new construction and remodeling services. The projects are usually designed by architects, several of whom the Levys have built strong relationships with for negotiated bids and mutual recommendations.

The company has procedures to help clients stay on schedule, including the use of e-mail and digital photos and a 40-page binder containing construction, payment, and selection schedules, which is given to home¬owners during the pre-construction meeting. Owners complete and submit a form from the binder for each product selection. “Customers love it,” says Jon Levy (back row, third from right, with Ike third from left). “They can focus on what they need to focus on, and think about siding first and interior paint color later.”

For new houses and larger remodeling projects, the firm provides the services of an interior designer to assist clients with material selections. The Levys also recently built a 6,500-square-foot space to establish a visible presence in the community and to smooth the selections process. The building has 12 staff offices, two conference rooms, and a design center with siding, roofing, windows, tile, kitchen cabinetry, and countertop samples.
