Though Ronald Leclerc has been in business since 1979, after a slew of frustrating contracting jobs, he began looking for a way to scale down and focus. Ten years ago he purchased a franchise, which now provides that focus: the company only replaces tubs and showers using Re-Bath’s acrylic wall panel system. The business includes four design consultants, showroom personnel, and a call center.

• A licensed plumber and an installation technician arrive in specially outfitted trucks and complete about 95% of jobs in one day.

• An efficient system, which includes a production department that tracks orders and stages materials, helped the company complete 505 jobs last year.

• An aggressive marketing plan includes television and newspaper advertising, retail displays, home shows, and a website. Leclerc thought Re-Bath’s ads were too generic, so he created more personal ads featuring him and his granddaughter.
