Remodeling a home is a major investment for homeowners, and remodelers should realize the importance of providing good customer service throughout a project. The Remodelers Council of the Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA) outlines how customers should evaluate remodelers to help find a professional that will exceed expectations. In an article in the Houston Chronicle, the author argues that remodelers who understand what customers are looking for in initial meetings can ensure they best represent themselves and maximize customer satisfaction.
The initial meeting between remodelers and customers is one of the most important steps, according to the GHBA.
[Clients] should get a feeling of confidence with respect to the company's history, the remodeler's experience and skills required to meet their expectations. [Clients should] look for honesty; someone who will work with [them] and not try and talk [them] out of something but, rather take the time to explain additional options and solutions.
The GHBA says initial meetings are also a great time for remodelers to educate clients about their company's procedures, preferred methods of communication for questions and schedule updates, and site supervision procedures.
