The Makita XSL06PT is powered by two 18V batteries and has the same cutting capacity as the corded version, the LS1019L
The Makita XSL06PT is a cordless 10" dual-bevel sliding compound miter saw. It is power by two 18V LXT batteries. It features a brushless direct-Drive motor, laser, removable fences, and a fixed rail system so it can be pushed up flush to a wall.
Corded power in a cordless saw. The review's author, Ken Hoskins, found the saw to perform with the same power as corded models he has used.
Makita XSL06PT Kit. The XSL06PT kit comes with a dual-port fast charger and two 5Ah batteries. There were deals online and in some retailers that offered a lower price and extra batteries, but as reference, the current in-store price at Home Depot is $650.
The wide base is back. A large-sized aluminum base popular on older model Makita saws creates a stable work surface for supporting stock.
Laser switch and horizontal grip. The power switch and grip run perpendicular to the blade instead of parallel to it. An on/off switch for the laser sits just behind the saw's power witch.
Controls up front. Dual sationary guide rails sit to the left of the blade and run towards the front of the saw. The bevel adjustment knob unlocks and locks the head so you don't have to reach around the saw when adjusting the saw's bevel angle. The blade-change hex wrench tucks into the front of the rails.
Preset detents and an adjustable plate. Adjusting the miter angle is a matter of loosening the screws and adjusting the plate. The saw miters 0° to 60° left and right, with positive stops at 0°, 15°, 22.5°, 31.6°, 45° and 60° (left or right).
Onboard battery gauge. The saw has an onboard battery gauge tucked just behind the power switch. A knob on top fo the blade housing allows you to adjust the positioning of the laser line in relation to the saw kerf.
Lock in the bevel. A lat lever to the right of the blade allows you to lock in 22.5° and 33.9° bevel angles to the right or left.
Deep cutting capacity. The XSL06PT can cut up to 6-5/8" crown nested, 5-1/4" speed base upright, and 12" cross cut at 90° in material up to 2-13/16" thick.
