The idea of an electric pickup truck and hybrid pickup truck aren't new. Tesla had a concept truck back in 2016, but there's one coming from competitor the Workhorse Group as soon as the end of 2018. "We were first with the electric pickup truck," said Workhorse Group (WKHS) CEO Stephen Burns in an interview with TheStreet. He started building one long ago. According to Burns, the company was in the process of designing the truck when Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Inc. (TSLA - Get Report) , announced he company would build one. "We wanted to get first-mover advantage," Burns said, as he nodded towards the W-15 pickup truck expected to roll out by the end of 2018. "We want to beat Tesla by a few years." The W-15 will be available in both electric and hybrid versions, and the company says that a W-25 and W-35 are on the way, as well.
