Architects Elizabeth Reader and Charles Swartz of Reader & Swartz Architects (Winchester, Va.) collaborated with contractors Will and Micki Martindale of Houseworks (Berryville, Va.) to convert the house, which dates back to 1810, into two apartments, highlighting the building’s old wood and masonry while also adding modern elements.
