Say what you will about his showmanship and silly attitude in his videos, but Jesse DeGeest is a true craftsman. Nothing he’s done to date illustrates that fact better than this video wherein he cuts a Japanese Scarf Joint into a beam that will support the floor joists of a deck he’s building on his own house. From the design to him fine-tuning the joint to watching it all go together and interlock with the deck-post’s tenons, this is a real feat of workmanship that we all should tip our hat to.
