Matt Risinger walks us through Lowe's for Pros JobSight video chat service, which allows contractors to make virtual jobsite visits with their clients, subcontractors, and work crews. Similar to by-now-familiar video conferencing tools like FaceTime and Zoom, the app is supplemented with a few features that Risinger thinks makes it particularly appealing for builders.

To use it, the contractor sends a link via text message to the client or team member, who then clicks the link and opens it in a mobile browser. This allows the person on site to share video with the contractor, who can then view the scene and communicate with the person on site while taking screen shots of specific details. Through augmented reality and computer vision, the video tool can capture serial numbers and identify components and parts, and in an emergency, the contractor can use an on-screen laser pointer or a drawing tool to guide their clients or help them make a repair. Each session is recorded, and afterwards, the contractor can share a summary of the visit, including photos and the video.
