A unique hold-down system for roofs in high-wind zones uses the wind itself to hold low-slope roofing securely in place. The V2T system is a series of non-penetrating vents placed on a low-slope roof like so many paperweights. Only, instead of weight, these vents, which are about the size of a mud bucket, create a vacuum that reportedly pulls the air from under the membrane, drawing it down to the deck and holding it firmly in place. Conventional fastening systems for the membrane must still be used; the V2T vents are used in addition to membrane fasteners to provide added security against uplift pressures during high-wind events.  Learn more.
