According to IPG, NovaSeal underlayment is lighter and stronger than felt and provides better coverage — a 1,000-square-foot roll allegedly covers nearly five times as much roof surface as a roll of 30-pound felt. The woven polypropylene fabric is made with a two-sided coating that offers excellent traction even in the rain and is unaffected by UV radiation for up to a year, the company says. Costs range from 11 to 15 cents per square foot, depending on location.
