DeckWise makes two versions of peel-and-stick tape: 3-inch-wide JoistTape for protecting the tops of deck joists from moisture and decay and 12-inch-wide LedgerTape to seal deck ledgers and prevent water damage to house sheathing and framing. Both are made from a flexible polyethylene with a self-sealing rubberized adhesive. JoistTape also helps prevent deck boards from squeaking, according to the manufacturer, and LedgerTape can be used to wrap wood deck or fence posts that will be buried in the ground. JoistTape sells for about $30 for a 3-inch-by-75-foot roll; LedgerTape retails for $36 for a 12-inch-by-25-foot roll. DeckWise, deckwise.com
