Air King America has recalled more than 5,000 wall-mounted range hoods due to injury hazards, according to an announcement from the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The recall involves the Air King Valencia Wall-Mounted Range Hood. According to the CPSC, the wall-mounting anchors provided with the range hoods do not adequately secure the hood to the wall, posing an injury hazard to consumers.
The Air King Valencia range hoods come in 30- and 36-inch widths and are approximately 18 inches high without the vertical exhaust duct cover. The recall involves the stainless steel, white, and black finishes of the range-hood model. Air King America received one report of the Valencia Range Hood coming loose from the wall soon after installation, resulting in minor damage to the cook top. No injuries have been reported so far, though, the CPSC reports.
The Valencia Range Hood was sold by independent electrical supply distributors nationwide and by retailers The Home Depot, Lowe's, Amazon, and Build.com between 2009 and 2018.
Air King America advises consumers stop using the range hoods and inspect the range hoods. If the range hoods are included in the recall, Air King will provide customers with free replacement wall anchors and repairs from a qualified technician.
