A desperately cold winter made the thaw of a warm sun and mild breeze even more welcome to homeowners this spring. It also proved to be perfect timing for a partnership between two companies that thrive on use of outdoor spaces. In early April, Phantom Screens announced that it now offers the Breezy Living Garage Door Screen System with the Phantom Professional series door screen.

“The whole power-retractable screen got its start in the Florida market where people love to use their garage as a living space,” says Ron Somers, vice president of sales and marketing for Phantom Screens. “Breezy Living came along as an alternative to a power screen at a lower price point.”

Affordable Luxury

Until recently, Somers says, the concept of a motorized retractable screen was often viewed as a luxury. Now high-quality manual screens like the Breezy Living product and some DIY models make the option viable for more homeowners. With Phantom Screens’ distributor network, Breezy Living representatives are hoping that the product will gain additional appeal. “We’re confident that by offering the Breezy Living garage door system with Phantom’s Professional Series retractable door screen, we meet the needs of our clients and provide them another versatile option of natural ventilation, shade, and insect protection for their homes,” says Rick Schutte, national accounts sales manager for Breezy Living.

Somers says that using screens can help homeowners meet a range of comfort goals. In addition to making natural light more readily available in the home, he says, “when you use [retractable screens] on large openings, the ventilation they offer helps keep the house cooler, which means people are relying less on their air conditioners. With patios, lanais, porches, and garages, and other enclosures, screens easily extend the life of the useable space.”
