Ply Gem has enhanced its “SolarDefense Reflective Technology” on select vinyl siding in its Mastic collection. The new technology uses three protective layers to shield from the sun’s UV rays. The base layer has been reformulated to withstand higher temperatures to help prevent thermal distortion; the middle layer aids in reflecting light rays to keep the siding cool; and the top layer is designed to resist color fading and oxidation, says Ply Gem.
