Ryobi has announced it's first foray into the garage door opener market with a versatile new addition to its popular One+ lineup.
The base unit is an ultra-quiet 2hp garage door opener featuring motion-controlled overhead LED lighting. Though the unit plugs into a standard outlet like most garage door openers do, as part of the One+ product line it also accommodates a standard One+ battery, which means battery backup is always ready in case of a power outage. A fully charged One+ battery can power the opener for 100 open-and-close cycles. The battery itself is sold separately, or users can insert any One+ battery they already have in their power arsenal.
Recognizing the high priority homeowners are placing on access controls, the Ryobi opener is compatible with HomeLink and operates on wi-fi. A multifunctional wall control, wireless keypad, two remotes, and a safety sensor come with the unit, but the attention to detail doesn’t stop there.
The Ryobi Garage Door Opener can accommodate is designed to work with a variety of creative plug-and-play modules ideal for those who do more in the garage than just park their cars. The modules include:
Park Assist: Two ultra-bright class wo lasers activate when the garage door opens to help guide drivers to their preferred stopping points.
Retractable Cord Reel: A 30-foot extension cord with three outlets easily pulls down from the cord reel and retracts back into the unit when not in use.
Bluetooth Wireless Speaker: Keep garage work entertaining by easily pairing your MP3 player with this powerful speaker from up to 30 feet away. An integrated microphone allows for hands-free phone calls.
Fan: Snap in this fan with dual pivot points to provide cooling in any direction.
Carbon Monoxide Alarm: Monitor carbon monoxide, as well as temperature and humidity with this module that emits an 85 dBa alert in case of danger. All monitoring can be done from the Ryobi garage door smartphone app, though the app is not required for carbon monoxide monitoring. (Coming in July 2016.)
The Ryobi Garage Door Opener will be available at the Home Depot for $238 with modules sold separately for between $44 and $64. Pre-orders can be made online. The products will launch in stores on April 15.
