No-Nick Cutter. One challenge with armored cable is that it can be hard to cut the armor without nicking the wires inside, which is why cable manufacturers recommend using a rotary cutter designed specifically for this cable type. With the Sir Nickless cable cutter, the chance of damage is reduced even further, says the maker, because the tool's curved tray forces the internal wires to lie tight against the bottom cable wall, safely away from the top-positioned cutting blade. The tool can cut BX, MC, AC, Greenfield, and other types of aluminum or steel armored cable up to 3/8 inch in diameter. Six replacement blades can be stored in the handle knob. The cutter costs $27.
