Kenmore is recalling approximately 700 microwave ovens due to burn hazards posed by the product. The recall involves 1,000-watt countertop convection microwave ovens manufactured under the Kenmore Elite brand name, according to an announcement by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). Incorrect wiring in the microwave ovens causes the product's exterior to reach temperatures exceeding 183 degrees Fahrenheit, according to the CPSC.

The recalled microwaves were sold exclusively at Sears and Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores nationwide between May 2017 and July 2018. The manufacturing date of the recalled microwave ovens is identifiable by the first six digits of the product's serial number. The brand name, model number, and serial number can be found on the data plate on the back of the microwave oven.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled microwave product and contact the distributor for free in-home repairs, according to the CPSC.
