Doubling as a work of art, this niche dividing wall seamlessly separates the kitchen, living, and dining room of a revamped Austin, Texas, home. Inspired by Mexican architecture, CG&S Design-Build’s design director, Stewart Davis, reframed the wall in American Clay brand plaster to simulate stucco. Peek-a-boo windows and art niches were cut in to create a more open feel, while matte-stained shelves and soft recessed lights ensure that the homeowners’ art is elegantly on display. To tie the wall in with the rest of the space, the Mexican architecture theme is carried throughout the kitchen and other rooms in the home. Brazilian pecan hardwood floors contrast nicely with the wall color, creating added depth and texture.
