Makita introduced two new cordless caulking guns to its 18-volt product lineup. The 18-volt LXT Lithium-Ion Caulk and Adhesive Gun comes in both 10-ounce (pictured, top) and 20-ounce (pictured, bottom) sizes and according to the manufacturer the tools are ideal for a wide range of uses from residential window installation to aerospace work.
Both products deliver 1,100-pounds of dispensing force and have a 5-speed dial along with a variable speed trigger. According to Makita, the variable speed trigger allows for dispensing up to two and a half times faster than competing cordless caulking guns. Other features—found on both tools—include a 360-degree rotatable cartridge holder, a built-in L.E.D light, and an overload indicator that tells the operator when the tool is overloaded so as to prevent the breakage of the sealant cartridge. The tools also include a drip-reduction feature that automatically relieves pressure on the material being dispensed once pressure on the trigger is released.
The only difference aside from the size, is that the 20-ounce model is a barrel style gun and includes interchangeable pistons that allow it to dispense cartridges, sausage packs, and bulk materials.
Both tools are sold as either tool-only or as a kit, which includes two batteries and a charger.
