Last year, a group of us visited the Festool headquarters in Germany, where we were shown a few products that weren't on the U.S. market yet. Two of those products were at the Festool Connect event this past month, along with 10 demo stations. Most who attended live relatively close-by - and that proximity varies by individual (one guy drove over 10 hours), and several members of the media flew in from around the U.S. and Canada. The big draw was Festool's new hybrid-powered cordless sanders, and a new router table that has yet to be released here in the U.S. SawStop had an area of the floor as well, which wasn't surprising given that Festool's parent company bought SawStop about a month ago. The tool that got the most attention? Hands down, it was the Shaper Tools Origin - a high-tech hand-held CNC machine that we can't wait to get our hands on to try out. Stay tuned for more on that - for now, flip through the slideshow to learn more.
