There are not many things I'm willing to travel across the country for, but in a couple of weeks I'll be headed to my favorite event of the year - the JLC LIVE show in Providence, RI. JLC LIVE is one of the country's premier events for residential contractors and remodelers. I have been attending it on and off since the late 1990's and it has been bigger and better each year.

JLC LIVE runs from March 21-24 and includes business and technical conferences, building clinics, and an exhibit hall filled with the latest tools and materials. I particularly enjoy the building clinics because they are live demonstrations by real tradesmen. Presenters include Gary Katz and Mike Sloggatt (framing and finish), Jed Dixon (stairbuilding), and Mike Guertin (deck building). For a complete list of topics and presenters – click here.

If you are in construction and want to improve your trade or business skills – then I encourage you to attend JLC LIVE. This short video will give you a flavor of what the event is like. Don't worry, that music will not be playing in the background, though you will be hearing some power tools. But if you are into tools – how bad could that be?
