This first video is a completely homemade Revolutionary-era-style cannon. It has a breach-plug, which wasn’t on a cannon at that time. But all of the other components are similar (though not technically replicas). The first half of the video is an exploration in true craftsmanship – particularly when you see how the barrel looked in-process and hear the tolerances that were adhered to. It’s a very cool build – and appears to be incredibly accurate. Notice how hard the projectile is hammered into the barrel.
This second video shows the same group of guys shooting off bowling balls in a homemade mortar. The fuse on the first shot appears to be pretty short – or even nonexistent.
