Many contractors start out by asking
what computer and software they
should buy. But in talking to them I
find they are really asking a more
basic question: "Once I get the computer,
what do I do with it?"
When you were a tradesperson you
took pride in how you performed your
tasks, and you reflected upon how
blessed you were to have good tools to
help—a razor-sharp chisel, or a wellbalanced
hammer. But, it was your
precise control over your wrists, your
keen sense of balance, your physical
endurance, and most of all, your trade
knowledge that made those tools work
so well for you.
