Home-improvement retailer Home Depot is planning to hire 80,000 associates in anticipation of the busy spring season. Many of the part-time positions will be staffed in the company's garden center. Home Dept is also looking to hire for overnight freight, merchandising, and other customer service roles, as well as warehouse associates for its distribution centers.
Home Depot will provide "innovative" training programs and tools for new associates, including a gamified mobile app, e-learning, and on-the-job coaching, according to a news release.
“When you join The Home Depot, you’re joining a winning team built on our core values and associate-centric culture,” Tim Hourigan, executive vice president of human resources, said in a public statement. “More than 90 percent of our store leaders began their careers here as hourly associates, which is a testament to our commitment to growing the careers of our people.”
Home Depot operates 2,291 retail stores in all 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, Mexico, and 10 Canadian provinces. The home-improvement retailer recently opened a pro-focused flatbed delivery center in Dallas, Texas, as part of the company's $1.2 billion investment to build around 150 facilities across the continental U.S. to reach 90% of the population with same-day and next-day delivery.
