Scrap metal and other construction materials are fetching a high price on the market (especially the black market), underscoring the need for remodelers to keep thieves off jobsites after hours.
Among the new security options targeted at small businesses is the Zonet Internet Protocol camera, a high-end video camera that can see and detect motion in the dark, send video and images to authorized users anywhere, issue customized alert notifications, and let you communicate remotely with intruders (or anyone in the camera's eye).
Launched in January, the Zonet camera is easy to set up and small enough to be placed almost anywhere, the manufacturer says. It has its own IP address and built-in Web server and can connect directly to your network. The cost is $320 for the wireless version and $220 for the wired version, excluding the optional microphone.
