The report explores the popular industrial farmhouse trend, detailing how its taking shape with materials, finishes, and products in kitchens and bathrooms.
The report includes the following takeaways:
- For bathrooms, there is a huge uptick in interest for vessel sinks that float on a vanity and leave more open counter space (a 71% increase in searches for white vessel sinks).
- Mosaic tiles (a 1,267% increase in Pinterest searches) in light tones create high contrast with matte black faucets (a 53% increase in product searches).
- Shower enclosures have given way to open concept showers with frameless fixed shower panels (up 65% in product searches).
- Searches for geometric pendant lighting are on the rise (up 64%) with many consumers searching for an update to more traditional pendant lighting.
- Cabinet uppers are giving way to open shelving to promote minimal looks (industrial floating shelves are up 54% in product searches).
- The hottest renovation markets—where consumers are searching for products the most—are Washington, D.C., Charlotte, N.C., Atlanta, Ga., Austin, Texas, Dallas, Texas., Denver, Co., Phoeniz, Ariz., San Diego, Calif., Las Vegas, Nev., and Portland, Ore. In Canada, Vancouver, B.C., Calgary, Alta., Edmonton, Alta., Winnipeg, Man., London, Ont., Oakville, Ont., Mississauga, Ont., Toronto, Ont., Ottawa, Ont., and Montreal, Quebec, are the hottest renovation markets.
- According to Wayfair data, March, April, and May are the most popular months for renovation in the U.S. and April, May, and November are the most popular months for renovation in Canada.
