Remodelers looking for the next niche sector for growth should check the results of this survey, conducted this month by The Farnsworth Group and reported Oct. 25 at the Fall Remodeling Futures Conference put on by the Joint Center for Housing Studies of Harvard University. Here’s what 204 remodelers reported to Farnsworth when they were asked to indicate whether they are seeing revenue growth in any of the areas listed below. The percentage figures indicate the share of respondents who said their revenue in that niche was rising:

Kermit Baker, director of the conference and the person who presented the figures, noted that energy efficiency used to be cited most frequently as a growth area. Now aging in place has surged, he said.
