Paul Sullivan, chair of NAHB Remodelers argues that safety training and refresher courses can be successfully delivered online, extending valuable education to a larger audience of professionals than the existing RRP program currently serves.

Roofing contractors fall under the Lead Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) rules when:

  • Removing or installing gutters
  • Removing soffits and fascia
  • During roof-tear off when abutting painted wood surfaces
  • Removing shingles with an overspray of paint
  • Doing siding work

Currently, RRP certification is done in the classroom that includes hands-on training to verify that workers are trained in the use of lead-safe work practices. Read more about RRP and lead-safe practices.
