According to Generac, the new CorePower System offers all the safety and convenience of an automatic standby power supply at a price only a little higher than that of a portable generator. The 7-kilowatt unit comes prepackaged with a 50-amp transfer switch and eight circuit-breakers. It operates on natural gas or liquid propane and is at least 10 decibels quieter than competitive units, the company says. Prices start at $1,700.
