“With inset cabinetry, tolerances are nonexistent,” says Brian Stowell, president of Crown Point Cabinetry. “You might as well have a neon sign around the opening.”
To make those reveals less … revealing, Stowell, along with his father and brother, developed the Advantage hinge.
Designed to be ultimately easy for installers to set and homeowners to adjust later on, the hinge helps maintain precise cabinet door orientation, even as walls settle or cabinet doors swell. “We do a lot of renovations, so we know that houses can settle over time and leave walls out of square,” Stowell says. “This is a solution for a situation where, if you can’t get a perfect installation, you can still make it look like one.”
Sleek Style: In addition to being adjustable, the hinge is hidden. A slot cut by a wing router lets the hinge slide into the stile. When installed, the screw twists through the metal back plate and solidly into another metal plate inside the door. Available in six popular finishes, the hinges offer a high level of engineering in a low profile.
