Outdoor living areas have been growing in popularity for a few years now. According to the 2014 Residential Landscape Architecture Trends Survey by the American Society of Landscape Architects, designed outdoor living elements such as kitchens and entertainment areas, which include seating/dining areas, fire pits, and lighting, are becoming more common. In fact, some of last year’s Remodeling Design Awards winners featured designs that blended inside and outside spaces.

Recently, we've written about products designed to customize outside, and storage ideas for gardening supplies and harvested produce. This month, BUILDER, REMODELING's sister publication, also wrote about outdoor kitchens, how to design outdoor rooms, and indoor/outdoor living spaces. With summer getting into full swing, it’s not surprising that manufacturers continue to announce new products. Here's one more by Nature Innovations to offer your clients.

Part of creating an inviting living space is having the right accessories. For the outdoors, that may mean introducing planters and other landscaping details.

Surreal Planters by Nature Innovations are made to look like real logs, but they’re lighter and more durable. High-density polyurethane makes the planters water tight and provides the roots with insulation from hot summers and cool fall and winter months. A 23-inch planter weighs 4.5 pounds, so they’re easy to move around.

The product is manufactured using a mold that’s based on actual logs and hand painted to look like natural birch or white oak. Nature Innovations says that the paint is fade-resistant and safe for growing vegetables.
