Vinyl Windows with Full-Width Jambs Most wood windows can be ordered with jambs that match the wall framing (either 49/16-inch jambs for 2x4 walls or 69/16-inch jambs for 2x6 walls). But because most vinyl windows are narrow (usually between 2 and 3 inches thick), they require an extra step when they are trimmed — either drywall returns or site-built jamb extensions. Now A & H Windows has come out with the Designview window, a single-hung vinyl window with 49/16-inch jambs.
