Variable Speed. Fein has improved its portable vacuums — or "dust extractors," as the company calls them — by adding variable speed control and two extra casters (for a total of six). An onboard receptacle triggers the machine when a connected tool is used and leaves it on for a short time afterward to clear the dust hose. Fein vacs still feature a two-stage design with a separate fan for cooling the motor. The most popular model, the 9-gallon Turbo II (shown), costs $396 without attachments.
