Messes happen everywhere in the home, especially in the kitchen and bathroom. After kneading bread or bathing the family dog, homeowners might like the convenience of an automatic faucet. But what happens if homeowners can't afford that fancy fixture? That's where Autowater is hoping to step in.

Made by Techo, Autowater is a device that turns any tap into an automatic spout. Autowater comes in two different styles: Autowater K (for the kitchen tap) and Autowater B (for the bathroom tap). Both models have two separate sensors, one on the bottom and one on the side. The bottom sensor is for short uses, such as washing hands, and turns water off as soon as movement ceases. The side sensor is for longer uses. In the B model, the side senor maintains the stream for 45 seconds before shutting off. In the K model, the side sensor will keep water flowing for three minutes, which the company says is ideal for washing dishes.

Autowater comes in an aluminum finish that coordinates with most design styles. It's powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that Techo says will last for up to 10 months on a single charge. It comes with a built-in aerator, to adjust water flow, as well as a nightlight. The product is not yet available, though Techo has launched a crowdfunding campaign to help start mass production (customers can also pre-order their Autowaters at the site). Autowater has an RRP of $99 per adapter.
