From the house to the pickup to the jobsite, duct tape is a lot of things to a lot of people. But the product showed more form than function last June as it blanketed New York City's Union Square Park in a patriotic display of the red, white, and blue.

Henkel Consumer Adhesives, the manufacturer of Duck brand duct tape, created the giant American flag to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the venerable product. The size of an NBA basketball court, the flag was crafted by professional duct-tape sculptor Todd Scott and took more than 150 hours to build. The flag measured 50 feet by 95 feet and used up 1,120 rolls -- more than 13 miles -- of duct tape.
