Shower Countersink. Mud-pan shower bases for tile require the drain to be flush with the subfloor. Instead of using a reciprocating saw to shave a beveled-edge hole to fit the tapered drain body, you can now use the Stall Saw Adapter. It's essentially a large countersink bit that fits over most 5 1/2-inch hole saws and cuts the shoulder bevel for the drain assembly after the hole saw cuts out the middle. The tool is made from reinforced plastic and comes with three reversible blades; you supply the hole saw and arbor (a one-tooth wood-cutting hole saw is recommended). It costs about $90 from the manufacturer. Stall Saw, 610/457-0907. www.stallsaw.com
