Formerly available on only select door designs, WaterBarrier technology is now available now available on virtually all Simpson Door styles, including those with raised or flat panels, ovolor or Shaker profiles, and divided lites. The expansion is thanks to advances in Simpson's production capabilities, and brings WaterBarrier to the maker's Mastermark, Craftsman, and Builders Advantage Series collections, and contemporary and traditional product lines.

"WaterBarrier technology has been a popular upgrade for our most requested French and sash doors over the past seven years," says Brad Loveless, Simpson marketing and product development manager. "Given customer demand, we now offer WaterBarrier technology on virtually any exterior door. So, if you have an opening—whether it is the front, side, or back of the house—that will be exposed to the elements, you can still have a long-lasting, warrantied, beautiful wood door, no matter the design or size."

WaterBarrier technology combines a moisture-resistant medium-density overlay (MDO) with a thermoset acrylic latex primer topcoat and PVC glazing beads on the door's exterior. The treatment creates a smooth and durable exterior that resists moisture absorption and is ready to paint, while retaining the look of wood on the interior. WaterBarrier comes at a $100 to $250 upgrade per door, depending on species, door design, and shape. simpsondoor.com.
