New Nest Smart Home Security Suite Includes Outdoor Camera

Nest - which is known for its pricey smart thermostats - has just introduced a smart home security system. The basic Nest Secure alarm system includes Nest Guard, an all-in-one security base that provides the alarm, a keypad, and a motion sensor; a pair of Nest Detects, which are battery-powered sensors; and a pair of Nest Tags, which are keychain fobs for arming and disarming the system without using a passcode. Nest has also partnered with lock manufacturer Yale to create a new lock that can securely communicate with Nest Secure and other Nest products, even if the power is out or there's no Internet connection. The system can be upgraded with a video doorbell and with the Nest Cam IQ outdoor security camera, which is compatible with Google Assistant. The Nest Secure alarm system has a suggested retail price of $499; the outdoor security camera has a suggested retail price of $349.
