Installed with nails, the connectors help stabilize freestanding structures so they comply with deck-bracing requirements such as those in the American Wood Council’s “Prescriptive Residential Deck Construction Guide.” The braces are factory-formed from 16-gauge steel at 45°—but can be bent to a different angle—and are treated with Simpson’s ZMAX galvanized coating (1.85 ounces of zinc per square foot).
